Summary:
As the Blood Bank Manager, you will manage, plan, organize and evaluate staff and activities of the Blood Bank Laboratory. You will also, develop and implement new technical procedures, as well as, oversee quality control programs. Further, you will assist in the management and supervision of the staff and the departments day to day operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Evaluates, develops and implements new technical procedures for Blood Bank to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of services, and oversees labs quality control and QA programs.
Assists in the development of policies and procedures, in compliance with various regulatory agencies. Maintains established technical and operational standards to ensure compliance with licensing and accrediting agencies.
Assists with the development and implementation of budgets.
Coordinates collection and preparation of statistical data, as required.
Maintains and organizes inventory of blood products and reagents. Negotiates prices with vendors for supplies, equipment and services.
Manages and implements staffing requirements and assignments. Participates in resolving staff grievances and disciplinary actions. Hires, trains and discharges staff. Completes performance evaluations.
Develops and presents programs for training and continuing education.
In absence of Administrative Director, provides appropriate support and coverage.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related degree, required.
Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Minimum of eight (8) years pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which four (4) years have been spent working within a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctorial level, required.
American Society for Clinical Pathology SBB certification, preferred.
Knowledge of related theory, principles, practices, applicable instrumentation, analytical methods, quality control, statistical analysis, current government regulations and leadership
